People with a Passion for General Aviation

Purpose

I am a midlife student pilot who began flight training in March 2024 on a Part 141 path. As I learned more about aviation and the opportunities in Central Arkansas, it became clear that most rental aircraft in the area are intended primarily for flight training.

What was the point in getting my private certificate if I wouldn't be able to continue flying after? If I really wanted to fully enjoy the benefits of a private pilot's license, I realized I would need my own aircraft.

In October 2024 I purchased my first plane and switched my training to Part 61. Now, over a year later and still working on my private, I continue to look for the "real world" use cases for my certificate.

The plane I purchased is predominantly a trainer and not well-suited for taking my friends and family on longer trips. To fly my wife 350 miles to New Orleans, Nashville or Kansas City for the weekend, I would prefer to have a little more speed and modern avionics (autopilot would be nice too). To take another couple on that same trip would require more useful load. I believe there must be others in Central Arkansas with similar goals.

Goal

The goal is to connect and discuss the options further. These discussions could evolve into a flying club that focuses on more capable and modern aircraft, a partnership or maybe just some new aviation friends. To get started I need people like you to continue the discussion. You do not need to own a plane, be a certificated pilot or even have aspirations of becoming a pilot to contribute.
